What we do - and don't - keep about you.

ClipTik is built to do one thing well: save your TikTok videos as MP4. To do that, we collect as little as humanly possible.

The short version: No account, no ad tracking, no copy of your video on our server. We use Google Analytics for aggregate visitor counts only.

No accounts

ClipTik doesn't require sign-up. There's nothing to log into, no profile to fill out, and no email to give us.

Video content

We do not persist video files. When you paste a TikTok link, the bytes stream from TikTok's CDN through our server to your device in real time. Nothing is written to disk on our infrastructure. Once the download finishes (or the link expires), nothing remains.

Why links expire in 60 seconds: short-lived, one-time download links mean a link can't be shared, scraped, or replayed after it leaves your screen.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records request metadata - IP address, request path, user agent, status code, and timestamp. These are kept short-term for abuse prevention, error diagnosis, and debugging. We don't analyze them for marketing, sell them, or pass them to third parties.

Cookies & analytics

We don't set advertising cookies and we don't track you across other sites. We do load Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate visitor numbers (page views, country, device type). GA4 sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) tied to a randomly generated client ID - it lets us see how the tool is used, not who you are. You can block analytics with any privacy extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger) without breaking the tool.

Third parties

Two third parties touch your request: TikTok (our server fetches the video you asked for) and Google Analytics (aggregate traffic measurement). We don't share your IP, your link, or anything else with marketing networks, ad exchanges, or data brokers.

How long we keep data

Server logs are kept for 30 days, then automatically deleted. We don't keep them longer because we don't need to. Google Analytics 4 uses its default 14-month retention for event data; you can request deletion of GA4 records tied to your visits via the contact email below.

Videos: zero retention. The bytes pass through our server in real time and nothing is written to disk. There is no "library" of TikTok videos on our infrastructure.

Your rights

If your local data protection law grants you specific rights over your personal data, you can exercise them through us:

Access: ask us what data we hold linked to you. Most likely answer: a few log lines tied to your IP, expiring soon.
Rectification: correct any inaccurate data we hold.
Erasure: ask us to delete server logs tied to your IP before the 30-day window. We'll do it within 7 days.
Portability: get a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
Restriction or objection: ask us to stop processing your data for a specific purpose.
Complaint: if you believe we mishandled your data, you may file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

All traffic between your browser and our server uses HTTPS with modern TLS. Administrative access to the server is restricted to SSH key authentication only - no password logins. API credentials used to resolve videos are stored as environment variables readable only by the application user, never in committed code or log files.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach involving your data, we'll notify affected users via our home page and the contact email above within a reasonable timeframe.

International transfers

When you use ClipTik, your request data crosses borders to reach our server - this is standard for any web service hosted outside your country. Google Analytics may process visitor data in its global infrastructure under Google's privacy framework.

Children

ClipTik is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have data about a child under 13, email us and we'll delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date below. For significant changes we'll flag it on the home page for a reasonable period. Continued use of ClipTik after a change means you accept the updated policy.
